Shaf Rahman, spokesperson for Chokha said: “We opened the restaurant because we felt Beckenham was missing a fine dining experience which we feel people deserve.”

Inspired by the street food markets of Northern and Southern India, Chokha showcases a unique collection where flavour is never compromised. The menu is vibrant and inventive, introducing authentic flavours and seasonal produce. Guests enjoyed a canapes, mains and desserts.

The food was adored by guests, who particularly enjoyed the pomegranate canapes and the rainbow and heaven vegan tower cakes which were provided by local family business, Coughlan’s bakery.

The doors opened at 7pm welcoming in around two hundred specially invited guests including local press, businesses and loyal customers. The Mayor of Bromley, Kim Botting, officially opened the restaurant, cutting the ribbon and proceeded to raise a toast to all of those who made it possible.

In her speech she addressed that “a business like Chokha is very important to see in Beckenham. The food and the restaurant itself look amazing and I would be delighted to come back. Well done to everyone at the restaurant and I wish you many successes in the future.”

The night gave guests the opportunity to tour the restaurant, including their private dining suite ‘The Olive Room’, meet the team and sample the menu. With many people from the local community and surrounding areas invited, it gave individuals the chance to network and mingle with one another. Many guests commented on how nice it was to see all of the community get together and to be able to speak to people who you may have never met beforehand.

The restaurant was serving those invited with prosecco and beers throughout the night. However, many guests also got the chance to sample some of Chokha’s specialty gins, cocktails and wines from the bar. Half of the proceeds of the bar went towards Haven House Children’s Hospice.

The raffle kicked off just after 9pm and was a roaring success. A selection of prizes, including a tasting menu for 2 at Chokha, a round of golf at Chislehurst and Shortland’s Golf Clubs, 2 tickets to see the King and I at the London Palladium, tickets to Soul Town Festival, yoga classes from Breeze yoga, plush pandas from Panda Radio and a jaw dropping Mercedes Benz AMG driving experience worth over £500 were given away to a number of lucky individuals, with all the proceeds going towards Haven House Children’s Hospice. Chokha said: “We would like to congratulate all the winners of the raffle and hope that they enjoy their prizes. With the money from the bar and the raffle, we managed to raise over £650 for the Haven House charity. This money will go towards helping the hospice provide a range of services to life-limited children and their families to support them through the most difficult circumstances imaginable”.

The entertainment on the night was truly sensational. The magician baffled guests with unbelievable tricks where he seemed to be able to read guest’s minds! The musical talent of Faz Shah was both unconventional and beautiful. His performance of ‘you don’t know me’ blew guests away and was the perfect accompaniment to the sophistication of the evening.

Goodie bags were given away at the end of the night, with jars of chutney and various gifts which were kindly donated by businesses attending.

Shaf beamed: “We would like to say a huge thank you to our team including MAD Ideas marketing & design who helped manage the launch, my team, Sanu, Shams, Shafi and all of the businesses who were able to attend and for their generosity in providing a multitude of prizes, vouchers and experiences. It was amazing to see so many happy faces and the event wouldn’t have been as successful without all of our guests who came to support.”

Gary, a guest added: “Many thanks for a super opening celebration last night. Of course the drink and the food contributed to a fun evening, but it was smiling, courteous and professional staff that made the evening flow seamlessly. Of course the entertainment added to the enjoyment.”
